New family fun center opens in Malta
MALTA (Sept. 30) — TreePaad wants to put the “family” back in family fun.
TreePaad Fun Center, which is located at the site of the former Bounce-N-Party on Route 9, offers opportunities for all ages to play with everything from a toddler area to laser tag and a rock-climbing wall.
“TreePaad is designed to be a family environment. It’s for all ages. There’s a toddler area for the babies, then something for the middle kid and something for the older kid,” said co-owner Patti Garrand, who added that as someone whose children are 18, 13 and 8 she understands how important it is to have a place that appeals to a variety of ages. “It’s parent friendly. Everything here an adult can do, so you can play with your kids.”

TreePaad co-owner Patti Garrand says her business others fun for children of all ages and their parents.
“The people that had this building asked us if we’d be interested,” Garrand said.
The new location provides more space. Besides laser tag and the climbing wall, there’s Fort Ballocity, a 3-story foam-ball play arena featuring a 3-lane waterless water slide; Jump Shot, a basketball-shooting game combined with a trampoline; a stuffed-animal building machine and a games arcade.
“We have an awesome party area,” Garrand said, pointing out that at TreePaad’s birthday parties each group will be assigned a party coach who will stay with it from start to finish. “They’ll come right in and play laser tag with your kids. They will keep the group together at all times.”
While Garrand now has to commute from Queensbury, she said some of TreePaad’s regulars are happy about the new location. Maureen, a mom from Ballston Spa, is one of them.
“My son loved it when it was up in Glens Falls,” she said. “Now it’s even better that it’s closer.”
Maureen and her friend Sharon came with 6 children — ranging from 8 years old to 4 weeks — between the 2 of them. While the kids were playing, the moms had a chance to relax.
“I’m sitting, so I’m happy,” Sharon said, “and they are enjoying themselves.”
On Friday and Saturday nights TreePaad offers a $20 for unlimited play between 6-8:30 p.m., excluding the arcade and the stuffed-animal building.
“They can do laser tag all night if they want,” Garrand said. “They can do jump shot all night or rock climbing.”
